Choosing a house bait for 2025

As many of our seasons comes to an end it is time to look ahead to our winter work and the season beyond.

One of those thoughts for a lot of you will be bait. I know from speaking to a lot of you throughout the season that some of you are looking for better growth rates, some are looking for increased health, better digestibility etc etc. Truth is that at the core of it all of us are looking for our bait to offer a few key things. Of course it needs to be a great fish catcher. That's a given with our bases, the proof has been in the pudding for the last 3 years, all over Europe and UK from big wild publics to the trickiest of little French commercials.

But when it comes to choosing a bait to sell, supply and feed your fish in quantity over the course of a season there should be a lot more taken into account than simply, will it catch fish?

One thing I think we will all agree on is that we want solid, healthy growth. Yes it would be easy to fill a bait with oils, protein and a bit of carbs and think I'll be advertising hippo after hippo by the end of the season! Many of you know it really isn't as simple as that and for the long term health of our stock a mix needs to be balanced and suited to the time of year. Of course we have 4 mixes that cover all of the eventualities.

On top of a highly nutritious bait that will ensure solid growth over the course of a season there are a few other questions that I think you should be asking.

Digestibility; does the bait my fish are seeing all week, every week have brilliant digestibility? The reason for asking that may seem obvious. If they don't digest it properly they cannot gain the full impact of the bait meaning overall health and growth is impacted. Another important reason is to ensure your fish are eating, digesting it and getting rid of it as quickly as possible, meaning that they are comfortable getting straight back to it and are able to get caught again.

If they are unable to digest the bait effectively they will be stodged up, just like us that makes them uncomfortable and not willing or able to feed again until that last feed has eventually moved through them. Our 4 mixes are all very very digestible. The King Squid and Sea Monster are designed for that prime growing season between mid April and mid October when those water temperatures reach 14 degrees plus. The higher fat/oil and protein content in these two mixes needs that warmer water temperature to ensure their digestive system is firing on all cylinders and they get the most from it nutritionally and can digest it effectively.

Our Pro Liver GLM ticks all of the boxes, especially for early and late season and as a great alternative to the big heavier baits like the King Squid and Sea Monster so your anglers and your fish can see variety. Personally I always encourage the anglers to mix the King Squid or Sea Monster with the Pro Liver GLM, especially in the cooler water conditions.

Our new mix is called Milk Esta. It is a real throwback of a basemix designed for the cooler months, incredibly attractive and digestible in cold water conditions. The Milk Esta basemix is a brilliant choice for anglers between November and March. Its color and signals are a great contrast to the other three baits and enables you to ensure the bait they are seeing perfectly suits the time of year and allows you to phase in the warmer weather mixes gradually.

Another question that is well worth asking is, can I tailor a bait to suit my water? A lot of baits, especially the cheaper baits on the market and shelflifes are very stiff. Mainly because they are full of binders that offer nothing of nutritional value, breakdown times are rubbish, nutritional value is rubbish and digestibility is rubbish.

For some lakes, like ours we don't have to take Crayfish or Poison Chat into account and there is no long range fishing involved, so the bait doesn't need to go out in a throwing stick, this means we can get away with it being soft. Its highly soluble and at its best regarding digestibility. But for others you will have crays, poison chat, bream, ravenous silvers etc, and as a result the bait would be better slightly stiffer, so it lasts longer on the lake bed and is available longer to the carp. We will happily make sure your bait suits your water perfectly, and instead of stodging the bait up with worthless binders will adapt the mix with quality, nutritious ingredients.

We are able to adapt our mixes to suit your specific requirements putting us in a unique position to offer every fishery in Europe the best possible bait for growth and fish health.

Lastly, ask yourself if the bait you are currently using offers additional health benefits, apart from growth?

All of our base mixes include dry and liquid ingredients designed to promote and increase health. Such as anti parasitic benefits covering everything from powdered and liquid garlic, salt and thyme for its anti parasitic benefits and our Vitamin and mineral complex for overall health and skeletal development. Simply by feeding our baits you are strengthening your stocks ability to cope with difficult periods like spring, spawning and low 02.

We are able to offer fisheries all across Europe our bait in quantities as little as 250kg.

We can adapt our 4 mixes to suit you and your stock.

We offer very competitive trade prices for a range of baits that we do not believe can be bettered for catch rate, fish health and nutritional value.
